At the end of chapter 5, the author describes the Star of David being imprinted in Annemarie's palm. What do you think the author is really telling the readers as she describes the impression of the star in Annemarie's palm?
That the star of David will be there later in the story it may have to do with something important. Perhaps it will have to do with Annemarie since it was imprinted in her palm.
That Annemarie might be Jewish and I think this because the text shows that it was imprinted on her palm and I think thats a message for something but I don't exactly know yet.
I have two things that might be right so #1 is I'm starting to wonder if annemarie is an adopted jew. ans #2 is the star of david might be important later in the story.
I'm not exactly sure, but I think it it some important message. We haven't heard much about the Star of David, so I think it will pop up soon. The Star of David means you are Jewish. I think that something will happen to the Jewish later on. (Something bad)

I think the author means that Annemarie's fauit was to help Ellen and her family get to safety and freedom from the Nazi soldiers. I think this because on the back cover the Author said that Annemarie would find herself going on a dangerous mision to save her friend.
I think that she is trying to send an important message with the Star of David, but I'm really not 100% sure. It will most likely pop up later on in the story to play a big role.
Who knows, maybe she will be searched by a Nazi soldier and they will find out because of the Star of David that she has something to do with helping the Jews.
I think it is partly telling Annemarie wold do mostly anything to help her friend be safe. And It shows how brave she is holding it so tightly none of the nazi sodiers could see it and how it must have hurt but she never coplaind or anything she just stayed silent the whole time.It aso shows how she does some daring thing to help the jews become safe especily her friend.
I think that the star of david on Annemarie's hand is a sign or message that means that something big is going to happen in the story something to do with Jewish people maybe even Ellen.
I don't know for sure what the star of David means yet for sure but I think that The Star Of David means that someone is Jewish and if the Nazis see that Annemarie has a star imprinted on her hand they will take her away instead of Ellen. I also think that that The Star Of David will mean something important in the story later on.
I'm not sure but it is a message about something important. I think we will learn about the star of David some more soon. The star of David means there Jewish. I think something bad will happen to the Jewish soon
I think the star of David and the imprint symbolize Ellen's fate and how they were in her hand, the fate of Ellen is in Annemarie's hands. She could let it fade away, and expose Ellen as a jew and a rosen.
I think this is foreshadowing for something later on. I think it means that it will cause a problem later on with the Nazi's. They will think she is Jewish and take her instead of Ellen or it means that Annemarie will take a big risk for saving Ellen. I think Peter will betray them and come take Ellen and the rest of the Johansens. I think he is a Nazi because maybe it was a Jewish person that killed Lise in the car.
The star of David means that they are Jewish and that if the solider saw annemaries hand then annemarie would have been taken away from the johansens because nazis hate jews and they would not have let Annemarie pass.
I believe it is a symbol of "Destiny". I think it's Lois Lowry's way of communicating with us and telling us something even bigger is coming. I also think it's another hint that Annemarie's courage will soon come into play in the future, and it will be a much, much bigger task than she has ever faced before.
I think the author is trying to describe how hard Annemarie was clenching Ellen's Star of David necklace. To have some thing imprinted in your hand, you would have to be holding something with such a grip, that the substance would leave an impression in her hand. I think this means that Annemarie was prepared to sacrifice herself for her friend. By holding the Star of David, the Nazis would think she was a Jew, and therefor take her away.
I think it is the authors way of telling us that she is now part of the "resistance" not the actual one but her own. Its also a symbol meaning that she was brave and courageous and she must help Ellen do that to.
I think it is saying that she will soon see bad destruction to Jews from the Nazis. On October 1,they are going to take the Jews away. Or it could mean that Annmarie will save all Jews.
I think that it will mean something very important. The author does not just put random things into a book and make it seem like a big deal. I think that something will hapen to Annemarie that will make her seem like she is Jewish. I also think that maybe SHE is Jewish and her parents never told her because they know that it is very hard for children to keep secrets. Then again, I may be wrong. The imprint may also mean that something very important and/or dramatic might be abut to happen.
I think that the author means that Annemarie was desperately trying to help her friend. Annemarie clenched so hard on the necklace that it left an image-a symbol. The symbol shows how much Annemarie cared for Ellen, so much so, that she was left with an imprint. It may also mean that Annemarie is meant to help Ellen through her tough times as a Jew. To hold that so tightly, and leave an imprint in her hand, the Nazis may have thought that she was a Jew. In conclusion, Annemarie cared very much for Ellen. It is a symbol of friendship and care between the two.
I think the author was trying to describe how nervous Annemarie was. If you are holding something tightly you most likely are not doing it just for fun and you are probably just very nervous or scared.
I think the imprint is a sign. It means that Annemarie is doing everything to protect her best friend. It could also be preparing the reader for an upcoming event in the story.
I think it means that when Annemarie clenched the Star of David so hard it left an imprint in her hand. It means that she cares so much about Ellen she would hold her just as tight as she did the Star of David to protect her. Even if it meant sacrificing herself to save Ellen or other Jews. I think this is the author's way of telling us Annemarie will be called upon to save the Jews from the Nazi.
Every thing that happens in the story some how makes its way back in the book but i don't know how it will the only thing i can think of is if someone mistakes her for a jew.
I think that the imprint of the star of David is saying that the Star of David is powerful, and it's not so very light that when you squeeze it, it'll be an impact, like how the Nazis crushed the butterfly. When you squeeze it, it's like it's literally talking to you, and saying," We will survive the war."
The star of David on her palm represented how the fate of Ellen was in her hand. It also represents by my understanding it represented a dedication to helping the Jewish.
She may have made the imprint on purpose to show Ellen that she has got her back and will do anything to protect her and help her stay safe from the Nazis. Also I am going to make a prediction that Annemarie will get caught with the imprint by the soilders on a mission to possibly spy on Peter Neilson to make sure Ellen´s parents are safe.
I think it told how Annemarie helped a Jewish person. Also it talked about how she took a risk for her safety. It talked how she would help the Jews and helping her friend.
I think that the star will be is a piece her. I think it also shows that she would help Ellen at any cost. It will probaly become something that she will value a lot.
I think that the mark won't come off and the soldiers come and see that she is wearing the star of David and they will take her away since the star of David means you are Jewish.
That the star of David will be there later in the story it may have to do with something important. Perhaps it will have to do with Annemarie since it was imprinted in her palm.
