After reading Passage to Freedom and watching the video clip above, in what ways are Marcelle Solliage and Chiune Sugihara similar and different? Use specific details from the stories to defend yourself.
They are similar because they both did thing to free at least 1 Jew and they are different because Chiune helped thousands of people and Marcelle helped 4.
They are similar but different in some ways. They both helped save Jewish's lives. Marcelle Solliage helped the lives of Sevrine and her family. She hid them in her cellar/basement. Chiune Sugihara didn't hide Jews but he did sign visas that helped many people go to a safe country. They both helped Jewish people but they did it in different ways.
But Chiune and a girl named Marcelle are alike because they both helped many Jews. Marelle is different because she helped at least 3-4 Jews and Chiune helped many hundreds of Jews.

Marcelle and Chiune were two encouraging people, and they helped the Jews toward the freedom we have today.
Both Marcelle Solliage and Chiune Sugihara were both brave people who helped Jews escape from the grasp of the horrifying Nazi. Marcelle took Sevrine to safety while others took her parents. Though the parents didn't survive, Marcelle saved Sevrine's life. Chiune though, signed many, many traveling visas for Jews who were also escaping from the Nazis. Everyday, he wrote visa after visa. He asked the government first, and they said no. He asked his government yet again, still they the answer no. He wrote the visas anyway. He said,"I may have to disobey my government, but I don't, I will be disobeying God." He did as he said and helped many Jews escape. Marcelle and Chiune both helped Jews through their hard times.
ReplyDeleteChiune Sugihara and Marcelle Solliage both were very brave to help people that they didn't need to. And they risked their lives to help them. Chiune was very brave to write all those visa's to help Jews escape from the Nazi. Marcelle was also very brave to help lots of Jews by letting them hide in her home. They are very similar, but they also have some things that are different. Chiune asked his whole family help save the Jews. But Marcelle kept it a secret from everyone including her daughter. Chiune and Marcelle both worked really hard to save the Jews. Marcelle hid Jews in her house. While Chiune worked all day to write visa's to help the Jews. And they both made large risks to help the Jews escape from the Nazi. In conclusion, they both were very kind and brave to risk their lives to help people they didn't need to.
ReplyDeleteChiune and Marcelle are similar and different in many ways. For one thing they both helped the Jewish but in different ways. Marcelle kept it a secret while Chiune and his family knew from the start.Another difference is Marcelle only helped a family or 2 while on the other hand Chiune helped hundreds of people. The final way that they are different is the way that they helped the Jewish Marcelle helped the Jewish more secretly sending them on the recistense while on the other hand Chiune wrote visas and let the whole country of Japan know. That is how they are similar and different.
ReplyDeleteThey both helped Jews get to safety, but in very different ways. Marcelle hid people in her home and then transported them when the time was right. Instead of hiding people in his home Chiune gave out visas to Jewish refugees, so they could get to safety. They both were resistant to the Nazis.

ReplyDeleteThey both hid Jews, and think the Nazi are doing the wrong thing. They may be different, but they both have the same cause. Chiune disobeyed his government. Well ,on the other hand, Marcelle risked her and her family's safety.
