  1. When they are trying to get the Jews to escape it reminds me of in Joseph 1861: A Rumble of War when they are trying to get the slave girls to escape. In both stories they need to do it silently and quickly.

    1. The economy back then in Denmark reminds me of the US economy now. It was worse back then then now though. People are losing jobs now that are putting their food on their table. Companies, gone. People having to get their pay cut. Mortgageing their house to earn money. People having to sell their belongings. You may not realize it because, you still have your job, you still have food. Other people once had thousands of dollars but are now poor. It was worse WAY WORSE back then. But its still bad now. Our economy will never be perfect, without homeless people. But our economy is bad, like during WW 2. But not that bad.

  2. In chapter 11 Peter and mama gave the Jews food, coats, and blankets and this reminded me of how Joseph and his family helped Lilly and Marium escape to Ohio.

  3. Annmerie is trying to help her friend Ellen and her family escape like.Joseph was trying to help Lilly and Mariem and they both gave the people that need food and cloth like Mrs.Byers did and Mrs.Johansen.

  4. Chapters 11-13 remind me on chapter 3 in Caroline takes a chance because in chapter three Caroline finds her dad with a broken foot and in chapters 11-13 Annemarie finds her mother with a broken ankle.

  5. The movement where Annemarie finds the package for
Henrik reminds me of a Geronimo Stilton book where his friend needs to give someone a very important package and drops it. Geronimo Stilton finds it and has got to get it to the person before he leaves.

  8. When Mrs. Johansen is trying to escape the Jews and she gets hurt it reminds me of Joseph helping Hannah escape from Scroggins and Bails but Joseph gets hurt.

    1. Number the stars reminds me of Joseph because Joseph and Mrs. Johansen both hurt there ankles. Mrs. Johansen hurt her ankle by running fast in the dark and tripping over a root and falling to the ground. Joseph hurt her ankle by being tied to his friends in a cave and and getting up but he scraped his foot really bad on rocks.

  9. when annemarie's mother broke her ankle is like how joseph had gotten a concution. they both got hurt helping people escape to be safe they both were willing to risk there own health for their friends and family.

  10. I think that this book reminds me of Despourox how both authors talk about the bad or evil side with dark colors. Like how when Annemarie saw her mom outside lying down it was a black blur, not a orange or yellow blur because something sad was happening. Just like in Despourox when Rosquro was doing bad things out of anger it was in a dark place or when Mig and Rosquro "kidnapped" Princess Pea it was at night.

  11. When the packet fallen from Mr.Rosen pocket it reminds me of Harry Potter when a boy drops the password to the room and a person finds the password and he got in.

  12. When Peter and gave the coats and help them escape that reminded me of when Joseph helped Lily and Mariam escape from slavery and Scrogins and Bails.

  13. A text to world comparison is maybe Uncle Henrik's house used to be a safe house for slaves because there is a lose step and quilts on the bed.

    ReplyDelete

    1. Slaves used to need a place to hide during the Civil war because the needed to not be caught and so the loose step maybe used to be a hiding place and the quilts on the bed talked or tolled the slaves it was a safe house.

  14. The part when they help the Jews reminds me of Despourox because of their bravery and how they were both in the dark and that sets a mode that something is going to happen and they both think like a hero and they both leave an amazing impact on the people the help or save or lead to freedom.

  15. Uncle Henrik helps the Jews get away it reminds me of when in the book Luke Tobby a free slave but was cough by a sailor and Luke and his uncle Uncle Eli helped him become free because Tobby's mother worked for Luke's uncle. This part of the book Luke reminds me of the part when Uncle Henrik helps the Jews

  16. the book Charlotte's web, by E.B. White, is like number the stars by Lois Lowry because Charlotte does everything to save her friend Wilbur and Annmarie does everything to save Ellen. they both would do anything for their friends they risk their safety to save the ones who need it most.

  17. In the book Number The Stars when Annmerie didn't tell Kirsti about great aunt Birta being a code to get the jews safe, reminds me of when Joseph and Mr.Byers didn't tell Jared about them helping escaped slaves.

  18. In the Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. Edward soon feels like the world is a terrible place. In Number the stars the soldiers are the sign of the terrible place in the world the people that are mean to others.

  19. In chapter 12 the Johansens help the Rosens move from Copenhagen to Sweden. This reminds me of when the girl in the butterfly story was trying to escape the Germans and was helped by another girl.

    ReplyDelete
  20. In the book Danger along the Ohio Clara helped Red Mocasin heal his wounds even though he was on the other side of the war than she was. Do you think the doctor will help Inge even though she is helping Jews?

  21. Mrs.Johansen was supposed to be back at the house but she hurt her leg so when Annmarie woke up she was worried where her mom was she was looking around and found her on the ground crawling she brought her mom back into the house. In The Buterfly when Monique and her mom delivered Sevrine to the train station,Monique and her mom got seperated Monique was upset so she went home she was so glad to see her mom home also.Thats how I think the two event from the story are the same.

  22. When Joseph and Mr.Byers help the two slave girls get across the state and how Joseph got a concushen it reminds me of how in chapters 11-13 Annemarie's mom helped Elen's family get to the boat and how her mom sprained her ancle.

  23. When the mother in the butterfly was hiding the family in her house it was like when ellen hid in Annemaries house.

  25. I'm comparing Peter to Captain America because they both risk their lives for other people and they both fought against Nazis. Captain America was killed by a Natzi, but I don't know if Peter dies yet. I bet he does, though, because that's what normally happens to heroes. They risk their lives for people and they die.

    1. Michael, Can you elaborate a little more on you thoughts? Who are these heroes that die because they've risked their lives for others?

      Delete
    2. There are tons of people who do that, even if they aren't famous. Captain America almost died stopping a nuclear warhead from hitting England. Peter is part of the resistance, and they help try to defeat the Germans, along with the Allies. I could name some, like Thor, and Spider-man. Thor is a god who saves Earth a whole lot. Spider-Man helps out regular citzens.

  27. I am comparing the story to another book I read called A Hero's Guide To Saving Your Kingdom.Because Annemarie is like Prince Charming because they both help people run away because Prince Charming help the save the Princess from the evil witch and dragon and got 3 more Prince to help him out,Annemari help the Ellen who is a Jewish person get away from the Nazies with her Mom,Papa,Peter.

  28. I'm comparing Peter from Number the Stars and Harry Potter from Harry Potter. Both Harry and Peter risk their life to save other people's lives.Harry Potter Saved everyone in the world from the evil Vodimort. Peter saved many Jewish people from the Nazis.

  29. The story kind of reminds me of Joseph when Mr. Byers and Joseph where helping the escaped slaves. In this case Annmarie is like Joseph and Mr.Byers is like Mama and they're trying to help the Jews escape to freedom. Joseph also gets a swollen ankle like Mama did and they both kept going. Joseph kept going because of Hannah and Mama kept going because of Annmarie. Also, the slave catchers are like the Nazis because they are the people that Joseph, Annmarie, Mama, and Mr.Byers are trying to avoid. And everyone in both stories are all doing the right thing.

  30. In the book I am currently reading the Swiss Family Robinson a book about when a family is shipwrecked on an island the family was very relaxed but their ship was destroyed in a storm and their journey was slowed so they make an effort to get of an island. I believe that the one common characteristic was that Mrs.Johanson and the Robinson's journeys were slowed in an unfortunate process.

  31. Im comparing Peter to Despereaux. Despereaux is a very brave, nice and helpful mouse who likes to adventure. Despereaux main enemy is Roscuro who he fight throughout the book. Peter is a man who helps Jewish people escape from Nazi's, he is very brave, bold, selfless and caring.

  32. In chapter eleven, Peter and Annmarie's mother give food, clothes and blankets to the Jews. That reminded me of the story Joseph when Mrs.Byers gave Joseph and Mr.Byers coats and blankets for the two run away slaves they were helping, named Lilly and Mariam.

  33. I think Annemarie is like Despereaux. I think they are alike because both Annemarie and Despereaux show a boatload of bravery throughout the story. I know this because Annemarie runs through the woods without any thought at all. She could trip and break their ankle. Despereaux jumps into the sewer without trying to escape the red thread. Despereaux doesn't squeal or close his eyes when he was born. Annemarie talked to the Nazi soldier without showing any clue that she was frightened.

  34. I'm comparing Peter to Chris Ckecky in a book called The Talking Stone. Peter is like Chris because they both risks their lives for somebody they like. Chris actually saves his family and his best friend. Both of them put others before them selves and aren't selfish.

  35. I'm going to compare The Johansen family to the family in the butterfly The Johansen's Tries to save the Rosen's and they risk there lives to save them. The family From the butterfly Puts there lives at risk by putting a Jewish family in there basement and hiding them. If Nazi soldiers found out they were doing this they would not just take away the Jews they would take them away too.

  36. The events in chapters 11-13 reminded me of how Desperaux risked his life to save his "loved" one (the princess) He could of gotten killed by the rats, or killed by his fellow mice because of that. Annemarie's mother could have gotten killed too, but she believed that the lives of the Rosen's were far more important than hers.

  37. There was this book I read called I FUNNY and in the book the main character was running around in the woods and he tripped and broke his leg. So when Mrs. Johansen broke her leg it reminded me when Jamey (main character in I FUNNY) broke his leg.

  38. I want to compare the BFG from the book The BFG written by Rohld Dahl to Peter. The BFG was a giant with other giants but he was much nicer and did not eat humans, so when a little girl was going to get eaten by other the other giants he helped the girl. Then one day when the other giants were going to eat all the humans the BFG and the girl made a plan to capture the giants, their plan succeeded so they saved many lives and peter did the same thing by sneaking around and smuggling Jews around Denmark.

  39. When Mama tripped over the roots of a tree while coming to Henrdick's house the event reminded me when Elise the main character in Eight Keys tripped over roots of a plant or tree and got a lot of scabs and she hurt her ankle while she was playing Knights, an imaginary game.

  40. I think Mrs. Johanson and Harry Potter are alike because they both risk their lives to save other people. Harry Potter kills Voldemort and saves a bunch of people from death. Mrs. Johanson risks her life getting the Rosens to uncle Henrik's boat.

  41. Peter and the mother of Animere remind me of Josph and Mr.Bires because they are all leading somone out of the city in secret. Also they are risking a lot . The part when moma got her ankle twisted and Josephs leg got swolon b ut they went on.Allof them are bracking the law too. That is why they make me think of each other.

    ReplyDelete
  42. The part when Annemarie's mom tripped reminds me of the book Mckenna when she broke her leg and Josie helped Mkenna out and understood what it was like because Josie was in a wheel chair. Annemarie was caring for here mother because she new her mother was trying to help her best friend become free and she was sad about Ellen. She also loved her mom.

  43. Anniemarie and Martine from The White Giraffe remind me of each other. They remind me of each other because they are both helping their friends become safe. Anniemarie is helping her friend Ellen become safe from the Nazis. If Anniemarie and her family were caught saving Ellen and her family they could be killed or put in jail. If the Nazis found out that Ellen and her family were Jewish they could be killed or put int jail. Martine helped her friend that is a Giraffe not get captured. If Martine didn't help the White Giraffe the White Giraffe would be sent across the ocean far from Martine. Martine got the WHite Girrafe off the boat and put him back in the wild were the white Giraffe belonges. Martine and anniemarie are simular because they helped save thier friends.

  44. When Peter and Mrs.Joehansan were trying to get the Jews to safty .It was like when the mom in the Butterfly was taking the Jewish girl to the stop.In Number the Stars they got the families to the boat. The girls are both Jewish.

  45. In the Bone books the bones are living in a barn and Annemarrie and her family are staying in a barn.

  46. When I read "Emily Windsnap and the Castle of the Mist", King Neptune was like the German soldiers and keeping people from doing things. Emily, who is like the Resistance, doesn't want Neptune doing this, and in the end, she makes him happier. This doesn't have to do with chapters 11-13, but I thought I'd mention it :).

  47. A text to real world person comparison could be :

Annemarie is like G.F. Duckwitz because they both risk their lives to save others they put themselves in other peoples shoes and do what they would want someone else to do if they were them to do something like this takes great courage and bravery. They both stop at nothing until they no that whoever they were helping is safe.
