Number the Stars (Chapters 7-8)

What examples of foreshadowing has the author used in the story?

48 comments:

  1. The author writes a new chapter title that foreshadows because it gets the reader confused about the chapter and want to read more. The author also explains how the German soldiers almost tricked Kirsti into saying that Ellen is a Jew.

  2. A example of foreshadowing is when mama said Ellen's parents had gone to visit some relatives. When actually they have to hide from Nazi soliders

  4. One example is at the end of chapter 8 is when they say There was no Great-aunt Birte. She didn´t exist. Another example is in chapter 7 when Ellen asks where Annemarie hid the necklace Annemarie says she hid it in a safe place.

  7. A foreshadowing event could take place where Annmarie is confused about " Great Aunt Birte". It is a cliff hanger because Annmarie thinks Uncle Henrik and Annmarie's mom is lying and she has proof because she has never been told or heard about a person named Great Aunt Birte. I think that there will be no Great Aunt Birte because the next chapter says why are you lying !!!!

  8. The author gives clues for the future by foreshadowing.Uncle Hendricks says Is the living room ready and Mom again said Is it a good day for fishing.Just like Papa said on the phone to Hendricks.

  10. The author used foreshadowing by Mr. Johenson calling Uncle Henrik and asking him if the weather was good for fishing. And it did not mean fishing it meant if they can go the Uncle Henrik so they can hide from the Nazis their.

  11. Its like a cliff hanger because you don´t know if Annemarie will know if Aunt Birte is here grandma.

  12. The author allows us to have a prediction at the start of the chapter about who died. And you can make a prediction about were the necklace was hidden.

  13. A cuple examples would be like how Kirsti was about to tell the soldier Ellen New Year secrete, When they went to visit their uncle but they were hiding from the Nazi and when she said that the necklace is in a safe place, where is that safe place?

  14. The author of the story was very tricky and almost tricked Kirsti in the telling the soldier how Ellen was a Jew. Also at the end of chapter 8 she found out they were lying about Great Aunt Birte so that means something bigger happened and the parents didn't want to tell Annemarie and Ellen.

  15. You do not know if Annemarie knows or has ment Aunt Birte ever so the author wants you to read more.

  16. An example of foreshadowing was when Mrs. Johansen said that she would bring Henrick some cigarettes. But, she actually meant she was bringing a Jew to his house (Ellen).

  17. The author foreshadows the name of chapter 8 as "Some one Has Died" even though no one has died so then people think some one died and sets the plot. I think that they are staying on the boat over night because then they can bring Ellen to Sweden since it is a nutral country.

  18. Example 1. The end of chapter 8 says that There is no Great Aunt Birte. She did not exist.

Example 2. The next Chapter in the book is called why are you lying so that could mean that Hendric is lying about the death of Great Aunt Birte.

  19. Another one is when Annemarie thought did not exist.

  20. A the end of chapter 8 they say there is death of their great aunt Birte but their is know sadness and Annemaria has never heard of her. Also at the end of chapter 4 Ellen says she is sorry because of her different hair color and the soldiers come in and realize it.

  21. They leave a forshadowing note in there by saying there was no talking or laghter tonight

  22. At the end of chapter7 the author says there was no more laughter and the next chapter was called there has been a death.

  23. The title of chapter 6 is odd and a little confusing. This intrigues the reader to keep on reading. During the ride on the train, the soldiers were about to make Kirsti say that Ellen was jewish

    ReplyDelete
  24. At the end of chapter 7 it says that "There was no laughter at all" Probably meaning later on in the story something serious and maybe important will happen. And also the mother told them trust no one and don't speak to anyone which could mean later on people will ask them questions which they cannot answer or respond to.

  25. An example of foreshodowing is when Mr. Johansen says that Inge will bring him cigars when he really ment that Inge will bring him a jew (Ellen). He also adds that there are a lot of cigars (jews) in Copenhagan if you know where to look and that there will be more coming to him.

  26. The title of chapter 6 is an example of foreshadowing

    ReplyDelete
  27. One example is that since their was no laughter at the end of ch.7 so they are talking about something serous in ch.8. I am asuming a death of someone because the name of ch.8 is there has been a death.

  28. An example from chapter 6 is that when Mr. Johansen calls he refers to Ellen and the Jews of Copenhagen as Cigarettes.

  29. At the end of chapter 7, the author states that their is no laughter coming from downstairs. This forshawdowing is telling us that something bad is happening very soon. Another clue that she dropped is that Mama told the girls to stay away from other people. This tells us that things may be very dangerous for the girls.

  30. At the end of Chapter 4, when Ellen is in bed with Annemarie, Ellen says say she is sorry that she has a different hair than her so they couldn't be more alike. Later, they almost get caught because of Ellen's hair color.

  31. An example is that in Chapter 7, there is no laughter because the Nazi Soldiers will come.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I think that when they saw boats out in the ocean and when mama told them not to talk to anybody. I think that is important.

    ReplyDelete
  33. A example 1. they use code to talk to each other about Ellen.

  34. The book had there was no laughter that night written in it which meant something pretty important was most likely supposed to happen later on in the story
