Number the Stars (Before reading chapter 12)

1. Do you agree or disagree with what Peter did to Rachel on pages 89 and 90?  Please explain your point of view clearly.

  1. I think that it was right to give her that sleeping medicene because if the baby cried, then they would be cought. The mother of Rachel said that the baby won't cry but Peter said that it was to risky.

    1. Then, the Nazis would find them because of the high-pitched screaming.

    2. they would get cought

    3. The Jews would get caught

      Delete
    4. Then, The Nazi would catch the jews and the would have to go to the ghetto

      Delete
  4. I agree with Peter I dont think they want to take the risk of getting caught and getting captured. I think that was the way to go.

    ReplyDelete
  5. I agree with Peter because if Rachel (the baby) started to cry the Nazis might stop them and search the boat for jews. Since Peter gave her the sleeping medince she would not cry which makes the chances of escaping the Nazis much greater.

I like the way you think jackson

  6. I do agree because if there was one tear drop then it could do something to all of them. If the sleeping medicane works then they could all be free, but if he didn't they could all be with the rest of the Jews.

    ReplyDelete
  7. I agree with Peter because they could easily get caught if the baby started to cry ( He gave her sleeping drops). They did not want to take any chances of getting caught because they could be sent back to their home and be badly punished.

    ReplyDelete
  8. A think Peter did a good thing. If the baby started crying they would get caught. If they got caught they would get in a lot of trouble. Even though the Mom said she never cries you can't take that chance. This is why I think Peter did a good thing on making the baby go to sleep.

    ReplyDelete
  9. I agree with what Peter did because they couldn't take a chance that Rachel would start crying or make loud noises so peter gave Rachel sleeping medicine so she would be asleep while they made the trip to Sweden on the boat.

    1. WOW!!! That is very easy to understand and very detailed!

      Delete
  10. I agree with him because he couldn't take a chance of the baby crying because the baby and the rest of the people at the "funeral" were Jews, and if the Germans heard the Jew baby crying, the people going to Sweden wouldn't make it (be relocated).

    ReplyDelete
  11. I agree because it was too risky if the baby had started to cry on the ship. If the baby started to cry some German solider could hear them find them see that they were helping the jews escape. Then they would all be in grave danger so I think it was importion to use sleepy medicine on the baby so she wouldn't cry.

    ReplyDelete
  12. I do agree with what Peter did with Rachel. The baby could of waken up everybody (including the soldiers) and gotten everyone into trouble and their plan would be totally ruined. It would be the babies fault and all Peter wanted to do was save the babies life and everyone else's life. The baby could be very hurt or maybe something worse if the soldiers found out they were escaping. Not just the baby but also the whole crew on the boat and innocent people who did nothing.

    ReplyDelete
  13. I agree with what Peter did. I agree because the baby may of started crying when they were escaping, giving off their hiding spot. Peter thought it would be beter to save two adults jews and sleeping baby then none at all.

    ReplyDelete
  14. I agree with Peter because using the sleeping drug the would not make any noise.

    ReplyDelete

    1. I meant the baby would't make any noise

    2. Nice Job Salmon is Sam!

  15. I agree with Peter giving the baby sleeping medicine, because even if the baby did not cry at night they could not take chances. If they did and the baby started crying no one would make it. The mother did not want Peter to do that probably because she did not know what the side effects could be.

    ReplyDelete
  16. I think it is a good idea that Peter put the sleeping medicine in the baby because if the baby woke up and was crying they would be in danger or the Nazis would find out that the Jews were trying to escape and hurt them or kill them.

    ReplyDelete
  17. If she did wake then they would have to calm her or give her more sleeping medicane.

    ReplyDelete
  18. I agree because the baby would cry very loud if they took the baby with them and Peter put the baby to sleep by giving the baby the sleep medicine to make the baby fall asleep so she would not cry and lead the guards to them.

    ReplyDelete
  19. I would be worried that the sleeping meds could hurt Rachel. Maybe Rachel was too much of a risk to the rest of the group.

    4. I never thought of that.

  20. If she woke up on the boat and started to cry I think Uncle H Henrik should give her more drops. (Peter will send someone with the drops to give them to Henrik).

    ReplyDelete
  21. Sometimes adults are just as much a risk as an infant. What if one of the grown ups in the group panics and starts to make a lot of noise?

    1. She could become very, very sick taking more sleeping medicne

    2. Or gets sick because they said it was cold that is why they had the jackets!

    1. How will she become free!!!!!!!!! :(

    2. If that happened, she could be relocated and hurt

      Delete
  23. I agree because the baby would sleep for a while and they wouldn't get caught. But if the baby didn't get the medicine there is a possibility that they will get caught.

    ReplyDelete
  24. Then the might be cought

    ReplyDelete
  25. I agree what Peter did to Rachel because if the baby wake up and cry then people or German soldiers would head the cry and come to the house and they could turn the Jewish and Peter would be sent to jail. So that's why I agree.

  26. \('.')/ good job stephanos

    ReplyDelete
  27. Really good!!!!! :)

    ReplyDelete
  28. NICE JOB stephanos!

    ReplyDelete
  29. I think it was too dangerous to give an unknown drug to a little baby. Peter had no idea what kind of allergies Rachel had. When a mother is pleading to not give her child any sleeping meds, Peter should have listened.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Peter knows what the drug is !!!!!:( The parents would surly refuse but they agreed once Peter told them it was ok.

      Delete
  30. Maybe one person would stay with Rachel and the others will go.

    ReplyDelete
  31. Now I think maybe they should bring the baby in a different boat ride. If it is just Rachel (baby) and Peter they have less of a chance of getting caught.

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I like the way you thought of that

  32. I agree with Peter because if the baby woke up and started making a lot of noise then they all could get caught and killed by the Nazi soldiers.

    ReplyDelete
  33. I agree with Peter because if the baby woke up and started making a lot of noise then they all could get caught and killed by the Nazi soldiers.

    ReplyDelete
  34. Yes, I think Peter did the right thing. Even though the mother said the baby would not cry, the noises on the boat could startle her and cause her to cry. With the lodnum, the baby will be sound asleep on the whole ride

    ReplyDelete
  35. I agree with what Peter did because if the baby woke up and stared screaming and crying it could ruin them escaping along others and they could all posibley get killed.

    ReplyDelete
  36. I agree because they couldnt risk getting caught and the medicine made sure she would make no noise. If the baby made noise the jews would be caught along with everyone else.

  38. I agree with Peter because is Rachel had awoke then it could have put all of the Jewish refugees and Peter in danger of being caught by German Nazis soldiers.

    ReplyDelete
  39. I disagree because it could hurt the baby. If they notice her waking up they could cover her mouth with the blanket to muffle the sound of her crying.

    ReplyDelete
  40. Yes I agree because if he didn't then the Nazi soldiers could of found them and kill them all. And plus the liquid only put the baby to sleep, which didn't hurt the baby.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I agree because if the baby woke up and started to cry or something then they could easily get caught by a Nazi soldier.

    ReplyDelete
  42. Did Peter ask if Rachel had any allergies? Why should Rachel's mother trust Peter to give a drug to her newborn baby?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. No, he did not. If she didn't trust him, they could risk getting killed by the Nasi

      Delete
    2. It would be for there safety and it would be easier to escape to sweeden

      Delete
    3. No Peter did not ask. And yes Rachel's mom should, so she and her baby and everyone else make it to Sweden.

      Delete
    4. Peter did not ask if Rachel had any allergies, but when he gave her the medicine nothing happened. Rachel´s mother should trust Peter because he has experience with this kind of thing.

      Delete
    5. No; even though it was wrong for Peter to do that, it was needed to keep the baby quiet on the trip.

      Delete
    6. No but she should still trust him because if she did not then they could all get killed.

      Delete
    7. Peter did not ask if Rachel had any allergies, but if the parents trust Peter enough set their fate in his hands they must respect him enough to let him do that

      Delete
    8. Peter asked if the baby had allergies because the drug might of given the baby a sickness and make the situation harder.

      Delete
  43. I think what Peter did was wrong but needed. If they were caught walking around in the middle of the night in a large group with blankets, Nazi soldiers would not think their camping. They would think they were runaway Jews. They all would get in trouble but Peter especially. Peter did what would protect him from being caught. Also any night you went out in the middle of the night even if they weren't runaways you would look suspicus. Peter did what would keep them safe and hidden.

    ReplyDelete
  44. I agree with Peter because Rachel could wake up on the trip and start making lots of noise. Then Nazi soldiers could hear and they would be caught escaping.

    ReplyDelete
  45. I think it is good because if he did not it would make all the Jews not safe because if the baby cried the Nazi soldiers would know were they are.

    ReplyDelete
  46. I think what Peter did to Rachel was a great choice. If Rachel had woken up, she might have cried and alerted Nazi soldiers that some one was there. If the soldiers discovered Rachel, she might be taken away from her parents. They might do even worse things to the mother and father.

    1. Is Peter a doctor? How does he determine the dosage for a baby? Is he trained in medicine?

      Delete
    2. As far as we know, Peter is not a doctor. Although, he does have experience and he knows what he is doing.

      Delete
    3. hes a good doctor hes not trained

      Delete
    4. No, he's not a doctor, but he might be trained in medicine.

      Delete
    5. Peter may have done research on how much medicine to give people. On the back of most medicine bottles there are instructions on how much to take.

      Delete
  47. I agree with Peter because if the baby woke up and started to cry then it might draw attention to them and they would be caught. However, the mother did not want this to happen to her baby so Peter also could have took the baby on a different ride and then it wouldn't look shady.

    ReplyDelete
  48. I agree with Peter because even though the sleeping drops could
be unhealthy, you can't take a chance because the Nazis would find and capture all of the Jews, and the boat would crash because the sailer would be distracted.

    ReplyDelete
  49. I believe this because sure it was wrong but what if there was a loud noise and the baby woke up and started to cry, then it would put their lives in jeperdy. Also what if their were solders on the water and came over to see what he was doing this late at night, then he would say oh nothing jest sailing around and everything will be quiet so no one is caught. It is jest for safty because when you are trying to escape, safty comes first.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Was it an option to leave Rachel behind? Why or why not?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. It was not an option to leave Rachel behind. If they did, the soldiers could find her and think that the people in the house left and escaped.

      Delete
    2. no because they needed to get everyone to safety no matter what

      Delete
    3. This could be a clue that they escaped.

      Delete
    4. It was because they could also do that instead of giving her Ladnom. They could also leave her behind because it could be a little safer like I said before thier could be solders out there and it could be safer to leave her behind or give her Ladnom.

      Delete
    5. If they left Rachel behind the soldiers could find her and they would know there were people there before and come looking for everyone.

      Delete
    6. No because she could have children and those children could have children and so on, one person can make hundreds of lives so that is why she wasn't left behind.

      Delete
    7. If they left Rachel behind the soldiers could find her and they would know there were people there before and come looking for everyone.

      Delete
  51. I agree because if the baby started crying the nazi soldiers would find them and they would be all dead.

    ReplyDelete
  52. The mother should trust Peter because he knew what was best and was going to have to trust him on any occasion to keep safe.

    ReplyDelete
  53. I think it was the right thing to do because they couldn't take any chances, if the baby cries the could be put to work or even killed so they had to put the baby to sleep

    ReplyDelete
  54. I agree with peter because it will be hard to keep the baby quiet because if the baby made noise, whoever is with the baby will be hunted down by the Nazi soldiers and probably will be killed. But on the other hand, if the drug hasn't been tested, it might be a risk for the baby.

    ReplyDelete
  55. Did Peter ask if Rachel has any allergies?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. yes to make sure she could have the medicinee

      Delete
    2. No, he did not.

      Delete
    3. What's more important? The group? or one person?

      Delete
    4. The whole group is more important because if the others were left behind, the Nazi soldiers could find them and make them tell where the other person went and kill them

      Delete
    5. Peter asked because he wanted to know if the medisand was ok and how much she needed, But the group is more importanrt s they did what was best.

      Delete
  56. Yes he did to make sure she wasn't allergic to any of the things in the drug. The baby's mother should trust Peter because he most likely has done this before and knows what to do. Also she had to keep her family and the others safe or they may all be at risk.

    ReplyDelete
  57. This comment has been removed by the author.

    ReplyDelete
  58. It was an option but a very dangerous option because she could get found by the Nazi's which could give them clues of where the other Jews went. She could get taken on a different ship then.

    ReplyDelete
  59. No because they had to act fast and get everyone on the boat.

    ReplyDelete
  60. He had to give her some medicin so she could go to sleep for some time but the mom did not want in but she needed it so she finally agreed with peter and put some drops of the medicin but the problem was peter did not ask if Rachel had a allerdie if she had one to that she could have died and if they were caght walking in the middle of night with more than three people they would have been killed by the Nazi soldier's and on the boat to. so i agree with peter.

    ReplyDelete
  61. If you were Rachel's mother, would you have allowed Peter to give Rachel the drops of sleeping meds?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Yes because it would be the best thing for the group.

      Delete
    2. Yes, because it is the only way to keep her safe.

      Delete
    3. yes its so we could get to safety

      Delete
  62. And there were no clothes for the baby too

    ReplyDelete
  63. No because she would be worried about her health.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I would have allowed him for every ones safety.

    ReplyDelete
  65. I think that what Peter did was very right because the baby may have woken up while soldiers were coming and put them in danger. Also if the mother would have left without giving the baby the sleeping medicen the baby would have cryed and gave their positions up. The mother had to make up her mind, it was either risk being caught or be taken by the Natzi's, she made up her mind and let Peter put her baby to sleep. Even if the baby had a sickness he would have given it to the baby anyway because he was determand to get people to safty.

    ReplyDelete
  66. Peter is not a doctor and probably determined how much the baby got based on weight. It was not an option to leave Rachel behind. One the mother would cry and give them away and two the baby would be evidence. Peter needed to know about allergies because it could make the baby sick.

    ReplyDelete
  67. yes beacuse the had to get on the boat fast

    ReplyDelete
  68. No because Rachel could have allergies.

    ReplyDelete
  69. I agree with Peter because if the baby woke up and started to cry then it might draw attention to them and they would be caught. However, the mother did not want this to happen to her baby so Peter also could have took the baby on a different ride and then it wouldn't look shady.
