Burden

Book Clubbers,

As of this moment, we have 18 students participating in our December book, Danger Along the Ohio.  I hope to hear from each of you in the postings that will appear throughout the month.
This first idea of discussion is about burdens.  What is a burden?  Can you think of any examples that exist in the story?  What burdens do typical fourth graders experience?

  1. A bürden is when, like Amos, you do something bad or lie, and you feel guilty. Some fourth graders probably have burdens too, like not doing homework, or lying about something, like studying.

  2. I think burden means with difficulty or obligation. 4th might have burdens with homework if they did not pay attention in class, or on a test if they did not study well
