Amos's Burden

Why do you think it was so important to Amos that they do everything possible to save the Native American boy?

  1. When Amos saw Red Moccasin half-dead in the water, it reminded him of Simon's death. He didn't want anyone else to suffer because he hadn't helped them. When they (Amos, Clara, Jonathan, and RM) were traveling, Amos tried to make sure that Red Moccasin was feed and helped as much as possible.

  2. When Amos saw Red Moccasin memories of Simon of filled his head. He couldn't let anyone suffer so much. Even though Red Moccasin was a Indian Amos wanted to make sure that he had everything he needed because he didn't want him to die like Simon.
