When Amos saw Red Moccasin half-dead in the water, it reminded him of Simon's death. He didn't want anyone else to suffer because he hadn't helped them. When they (Amos, Clara, Jonathan, and RM) were traveling, Amos tried to make sure that Red Moccasin was feed and helped as much as possible.
